Youth
Our Youth Ministry at Crestwood is dedicated to walking alongside middle and high school youth as they learn and grow spiritually. We provide opportunities for fun and fellowship, local service projects, mission trips, and other activities designed to help youth explore their faith and connect more closely to God and each other.
Here are some of the regular youth program offerings at Crestwood:
Regular Sunday meetings – every Sunday afternoon – We have Biblical discussions, do service projects, play games, and other activities together throughout the season (August – May).
Friday Night Fellowship – once a month we invite all youth to come hang out, eat dinner together, and play games and have fellowship time, from 6:00-8:00pm on a Friday evening.
Wake up with Wallace – the last Sunday of the month, we take all youth out to breakfast at Panera Bread (2300 Nicholasville Rd.) during Sunday School time.
Discussions & Donuts – each Sunday (other than the last Sunday of the month) we have Sunday School time (9:40-10:30AM) in the Youth Meeting Room, talking about real life issues and the Bible, and enjoying donuts and pastries together.
Service Projects – our youth participate in many service projects throughout the year. Here are some examples:
- Lexington Rescue Mission meals
- Hope Mobile sandwiches
- Greenhouse17
- The Nest food boxes
Special Events – the Youth host two big church and community events each year – the Pancake Breakfast & Easter Egg Hunt the Saturday before Easter, and the Halloween Bash & Chili Cook-off the Sunday before Halloween.
Car Parks – every home game during UK Football season, our youth park cars at Crestwood to raise money for our mission fund. Each car park (7 or 8 during the year, depending on the number of home games) must be coordinated by an adult, and youth helpers assist. This is what pays for our yearly summer mission trips.
Field Trips – our youth take approximately 4 field trips per year – mostly on Sunday afternoons – we go to Countdown Games each August, then usually have at least 2 – 3 additional field trips during the season (Activate Games, Battle Axes, etc).
Mission Trips – each summer, we offer a mission trip for all middle and high school youth. It is generally a trip to a neighboring state with an area of need that we can both learn from and help serve and build meaningful relationships during our time there. Once every 4 years, we offer an international trip for the high school youth only.
Youth Sunday – the end of each season culminates in Youth Sunday, a special Sunday in May when our youth lead worship in all aspects, including the sermons and music. This is also the day when we honor our graduating seniors.
